New Renault Twingo is the ideal city car

Newly released details of the new Renault Twingo have shown the third generation model will be an ideal car for any city driver.

The much-anticipated Twingo was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will go on sale in the UK from late September.

There are three versions, Expression, Play and Dynamique, powered by a choice of two engines either the new 1.0-litre 70 hp SCe three-cylinder engine or a Dynamique TCe 90 with a 0.9-litre 90 hp three-cylinder turbocharged unit.

The more efficient TCe 90 engine can officially achieve 67.3 mpg and produces just 95 g/km.

All versions of Renault's newest city car come with body-coloured bumpers, door handles and exterior door mirror shells, a rear spoiler and LED daytime running lights.

Comfort and convenience are provided with electric power steering, electric front windows and remote central locking fitted as standard across the range.

Also included is the new smartphone-operated R&GO system, which gives intuitive access to a variety of navigation, telephone, multimedia and trip computer functions, as well as Internet radio and a host of other features.

The Play trim level adds to this core equipment with air conditioning, a height-adjustable driver's seat and steering wheel, and 15-inch black two-tone wheel trims in place of the grey ones on entry-level Expression models.

Dynamique versions are further bestowed with 15-inch alloy wheels, decals, front fog-lights, electric heated door mirrors, cruise control and a lane departure warning system. The cabin features a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob, white instrument backlighting and storage pockets in the rear doors.

Top spec models also offer the option of the R-Link multimedia system with a seven-inch touch-screen, voice control, TomTom navigation and an uprated stereo. This model is also available with Stop & Start which cut the engines when the car is stationary and improve fuel economy.

Maximising the Twingo's practicality the front passenger seat folds to maximise space, a feature no other car in this segment offers. There is also a split-folding two-seat rear bench as well as numerous cabin storage areas.

Safety equipment includes electronic stability control, hill start assistance, emergency brake assist and four airbags as well as a tyre pressure monitoring system.
