Renault 5 E-Tech Named 'Best Car of The Year' Ahead of 2025 Release

The 100% electric city car has been awarded the title by the not-for-profit organisation Best Cars of The Year before its official release.

  • The Renault 5 E-Tech has been named ‘Best Car of the Year – The New Car World Champion 2024/25’ by Best Cars of the Year.
  • Results for each award are decided via public vote, along with experts from the Best Cars of The Year judging panel.

It’s been named ‘Best Car of The Year – The New Car World Champion 2024/25’ and ‘Best Electric Car 2024/2025’ at the Best Cars of The Year awards. Read on for everything you need to know about this electric supermini before orders open next year.

100% electric power

A modern, all-electric take on the 1970s classic, the Renault 5 E-Tech will revolutionise your drive. It comes with two battery options (40kWh or 52kWh), bringing you up to 248 miles (WLTP) of range.

Equipped with bidirectional charging, the Renault 5 E-Tech can easily power devices on the go. While fast DC charging enables it to charge from 15-80% in just 30 minutes.

Using the digital driver’s display, you’ll easily be able to keep an eye on your range and key driving data. The EV even features a bonnet-mounted charge indicator showing your available charge – with the number 5 shown when full.

With instant torque from the electric motor, you’ll enjoy smoother, more responsive acceleration. It also brings you all the other benefits of electric vehicles (EVs), such as less noise, and zero emissions.

Fun, personalised design

Meanwhile, the interior strikes the perfect balance of comfort and sustainable style. The seat fabrics are made from recycled materials for eco-friendly design. While a patented smart cocoon soundproofing system enhances comfort and relaxation. With a boot capacity of 326 litres, it’s also incredibly practical for your day-to-day.
