Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC specifications announced
French car manufacturer Renault is bringing its new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC range to the UK in two unique guises.
This summer, motorists will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this sporty new vehicle in either its standard EDC setup or the more advanced Lux model.
Both versions of the Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC vehicles represents the first time that the French car maker has ever fitted an Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission system as standard.
This technology will come in the form of a six gear unit, which can be worked through by simply using the car’s aluminium steering column-mounted paddle shifters.
In order to make the new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC the must-have supermini of 2013, Renault has also fitted the vehicle with a whole host of additional technical upgrades.
For one, the car is installed with the state-of-the-art R.S. Drive system, complete with three driving modes. These are split between Normal, Sport and entirely manual Race, with each presenting drivers with the ability to alter the settings of the vehicle’s engine, accelerator pedal, ESC mapping and steering.
Another unique element of this particular Renault Clio Renaultsport is the fact that in Race mode, motorists can make use of launch control and a fully disconnectable ESC and ASR traction control system.
What’s more, the motor sets a first in the industry in that it is the first-ever production car to pack hydraulic compression stops in shock absorbers - a setup that has often been limited to use in rally cars.
Drivers who opt for the Lux version of the range will also be presented with such exclusive features as a flash 4x35W Arkamys 3D Sound audio system, automatic lights and windscreen wipers, and an integrated R-Link multimedia system with a seven-inch touchscreen.
Both models of the Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC launch onto UK roads in June.
