Renault Enjoys Multiple Successes at 2024 Business Car Awards

Titles awarded included ‘Most Improved Manufacturer’ for fleet success for the Renault Group, and ‘One to Watch’ for the Renault 5 E-Tech.

The Business Car Awards is a highly recognised event in the fleet industry and has been held annually for over 20 years. Winners are chosen against specific benchmarks, helping identify the best cars for fleets.

This year’s event was held at the Hilton London, Bankside, and it was a good run for Renault, with the French manufacturer picking up not one but two awards. Read on to find out more.

‘Most Improved Manufacturer’ for Renault Group

The Renault Group was named ‘Most Improved Manufacturer’ for fleet success, praised for its investment in the fleet sector.

This has led to the brand achieving a 50% increase in market share, appealing more than ever to fleet owners with some of their latest models. These include the All-New Dacia Spring, All-New Dacia Duster, Alpine A290 and the Renault Symbioz E-Tech full hybrid.

Business Car Magazine Editor, Martyn Collins, commented on the award:

“The arrival of a new head of fleet, Justin Costello, and the significant investment in people, programmes and processes, has signalled Renault Group’s ambitions in the sector this year – but it is the sales results that truly underpin its status as a rapidly improving fleet operator, with car market share up by more than 50%.”

Justin Costello, Renault Group’s Head of Fleet, also commented:

“Renault Group has come a long way in the last few years, as this award demonstrates, our brands now offer a true end-to-end solution for business users. From the All-New Dacia Spring – the UK’s most affordable new electric car, to the Renault Master with market-leading range and efficiency, to the exhilarating Alpine A290, the legendary brand’s first electric sports car.”

“Models such as the Renault Clio and Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric continue to find favour with fleet customers and are now joined by new offerings in the guise of the All-New Dacia Duster, Renault Symbioz E-Tech full hybrid and the plug-in hybrid Renault Rafale. As a result, our brands’ breadth of appeal is now the greatest it’s ever been, and our team are working hard to deliver a great fleet experience and lay the foundations to build for an even more successful future.”

The prestigious title follows two previous awards for Renault models. These include the Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric being voted Car of the Year, and Van of the Year for the New Renault Master.

‘One to Watch’ - Renault 5 E-Tech

Meanwhile, Renault’s new all-electric hatchback, the Renault 5 E-Tech, was named ‘One to Watch’ at the awards.

The new EV was praised for its fun, playful design and cutting-edge technology, offering up to 248 miles (WLTP) on a single charge. With rapid charging capability, it can also be recharged from 15-80% in just 30 minutes.

This comes after another recent award for ‘Best Car of The Year’, showing its rapidly growing popularity.

It offers a highly customisable design, with five body colours and two-tone paint to choose from. Inside, the 3D-printed accessories can also be customised in a range of different styles.

Exterior highlights include distinctive Renault ‘5’ badging, and pupil-shaped LED headlights. Hot on technology, it’s also equipped with a range of advanced driver assistance systems as standard, such as Active Driver Assist.

On the Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric’s win, Collins said:

“In simple terms, the Renault 5 is a B-segment replacement for the Zoe. However, it’s much more than that – it’s the latest in a series of iconic Renault models reworked for the future. On sale next year, it’s sure to challenge the Mini Cooper Electric, with a choice of 40kWh and 52kWh battery packs, and prices expected to start under £25,000”.

Costello also commented:

“Even before going on sale, the Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric is rapidly accumulating an enviable array of awards. This latest title shows that appeal is universal, across both retail and fleet customers, and the judges have recognised that many of the qualities that make the Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric such a hotly-anticipated new model are helping it find favour in a wider marketplace.”
