Renault ZOE named Green Apple Award winner
The eco-friendly Renault ZOE has picked up the prestigious Green Apple Award thanks to its green credentials.
Renault's plug-in electric supermini also secured the prize for small family cars at the event at the Houses of Parliament.
The model was described by one of the judges on the panel as the vehicle that could persuade motorists to consider electric cars, before adding that the ZOE is the "most mainstream electric car yet".
A fellow judge noted: "ZOE is a wonderful mix of a smart looking small family car and the sort of technology that wins friends the first time it's driven. It made me smile and the overall running costs are likely to keep that grin on owners' faces for years."
The new accolades are the latest in a long line of praise heaped on the model, as it was named top electric car at the Scottish Car of the Year awards last month, the most environmentally friendly fleet car at the BusinessCar 'Techies' and picked up the technology award at the Fleet World Honours.
The ZOE's official NEDC range of 130 miles, which is recognised as the longest of any mass-market EV, is another reason behind its success since its launch.
