Suzuki Swift Sport named as top model
The Suzuki Swift Sport has further enhanced its credentials as a leading car in its category by bagging yet another industry accolade.
Auto Express magazine recently named the model the top-rated car in its latest review of 30 sports models.
The news comes shortly after the Swift Sport, which carries a starting price of under £13,500, picked up the Best Hot hatchback for 2012 prize at the Carbuyer Awards.
What makes the Auto Express win all the more impressive is that the Japanese car giant's model was the only car reviewed by the magazine to score five out of five overall.
According to the judges, the Swift, which boasts a 1.6-litre, 136hp VVT engine, combines "agile and entertaining handling, a low kerb weight and sparkling performance all at a very affordable price".
Are Suzuki Cars Reliable
The car does indeed have all-round appeal and this is largely due to the fact that it has a top speed of 121mp and a 0-62mph time of 8.7 seconds in its locker, and impressive fuel consumption figures of 44.1mpg.
Dale Wyatt, sales and marketing director at Suzuki GB PLC, said: "We are of course really pleased with the results of this comprehensive review.
"It reinforces the message to our customers that Suzuki offers a great value and fun to drive Swift Sport with high standard specification, lower emissions and even better fuel consumption than before."
Despite comfortably fitting into the "affordable" end of its sector, the Suzuki Swift Sport comes packed with top-notch feature including seven airbags, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, rear privacy glass, 17-inch alloy wheels and a metallic paint finish.
Suzuki also welcomed the fact that its flagship Swift beat off a host of pricier rivals, adding: "The performance of the Swift range was comprehensively judged by the editorial team and was the clear winner against very strong direct competition as well as premium sports cars costing four times as much to buy".
