Team Bristol Street Motors upped the ante in terms of off-track action for the second successive season when the British Touring Car Championship visited Silverstone for the penultimate meeting of the year.

Twelve months ago, the EXCELR8-run team shocked the BTCC paddock when the series arrived at the Home of British Motorsport when it unveiled an innovative digital garage to celebrate an extension of its partnership with award-winning automotive retailer Bristol Street Motors.

Rather than being decked out in traditional boards, the garage was instead surrounded by more than 100 square metres of bespoke, floor to ceiling LED screens, designed and built by Elonex to create an immersive experience for guests unlike anything seen before.

This time around, the Team provided another unique experience for those in attendance as it created - quite literally - a party atmosphere within the garage across the weekend.

As well as opening up a section of the garage to allow fans to get closer to the action than ever before, Team Bristol Street Motors also called on the services of internationally renowned DJ Tony Perry to provide additional entertainment across race day.

Given his own personal stage overlooking the garage, Tony carried out a ten hour long set that provided the ideal backdrop to a race day that saw Team Bristol Street Motors driver Tom Ingram win two of the three races to earn a share of the championship lead.

Tony also had an unexpected role to play in assisting one lucky BTCC fan with a surprise proposal within the garage, with ‘You’ve Got The Love’ being the backdrop to the moment that competition Claire Megson popped the question to long-time partner Darren.

Whilst DJ-ing in a garage at Silverstone was a whole new experience, Tony is no stranger to the sporting world; most notably at Wembley Stadium where he is regularly tasked with hyping up the crowd before a big match, including last season’s Bristol Street Motors Trophy final.

It was at Wembley back in 2021 after England defeated Germany in the delayed Euro 2020 competition that Tony followed up ‘Three Lions’ with the Neil Diamond hit ‘Sweet Caroline’, which has become an unlikely football anthem in the years that have followed.

“Spending a day entertaining Team Bristol Street Motors and the BTCC fans has been an incredible experience, and it all came to a crescendo with an amazing final race as Tom scored his second win," he said.

“When you are performing at a big match at somewhere like Wembley Stadium, you tend to be quite far away from the actual fans, so to actually be in the garage and be so close to everyone was brilliant. The energy from the drivers, the mechanics and the fans was just unreal throughout the day, and getting involved in a marriage proposal was an expected extra!

“I’ve come away from Silverstone feeling like part of the team, and I’m definitely converted as a race fan!”
