The similarities between Mazda cars and concepts
The new Mazda 6 has plenty of similarities to the Takeri concept car, with some features almost identical between the models.
Peter Birtwhistle, the European chief designer at Mazda, has not looked to hide this detail either, and has in fact embraced the similarities being made between the Takeri and latest Mazda 6 model.
He explained: "With our 'KODO - Soul of Motion' design ethos, we are taking our concept cars and driving them off the show stand and onto the road
"You only have to look at our recent design studies to realise just how closely our production models mimics our concept cars."
Furthermore, Mr Birtwhistle noted that he believes the design and style of the all-new Mazda 6 was so well received at the Moscow Motor Show last month due to the familiarities that people already had for future Mazda cars after adjusting to the look of the Takeri design concept.
"If you view the two cars next to each other it is easy to see just how strongly one resembles the other," he acknowledged.
There are marked differences between the Takeri and the Mazda 6 though. The former is fractionally lower, longer and wider than the road-worthy vehicle.
However, it is when analysing the proportions and stance of the two vehicles when they sit side to side that drivers may find themselves playing a very tricky game of spot the difference.
This is not the first time that Mazda has evolved the ideas of a concept car into a road-legal vehicle mind.
Mr Birtwhistle explained: "Much like the CX-5 mirrored the proportions, stance and detailing of the Minagi concept car we unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so the Takeri was the unmistakable inspiration for the new Mazda 6."
Car fans have been told that the all-new Mazda 6 Estate will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show later this week, following the unveiling of the Mazda 6 Saloon at the Moscow Motor Show in August.
