Two terrific wins for the Peugeot 208 T16

Two terrific wins for the Peugeot 208 T16

The otherworldly-looking Peugeot 208 T16 super-racecar is on a bit of a high speed roll at the moment. Built for rally superstar, Sebastian Loeb, to conquer the Unlimited Class at the Pikes Peak hillclimb event in Colorado recently, which it did in smashing style; it's gone and done the same at Goodwood.

Within two weeks of winning at Pikes Peak – by a country mile - the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak car stormed to the top of the famous hill at the 20th Goodwood Festival of Speed, at the weekend. That's two from two for the beastly 208.

At the packed and popular Goodwood event, the 208 was driven by Peugeot Sport test-driver, Grgory Guilvert, a rookie to the challenging Goodwood course. And with 875bhp pumping through all four wheels, this thing is no kitten in which to learn a new race track!

The fastest time set was, in the end, exactly the same as German F1 racer, Nick Heidfeld’s in a Group C prototype Lola B12/60 circuit race car, at 45.86 seconds. Heidfeld holds the out-right Goodwood hill climb record set in 1998 at 41.6 seconds in a McLaren MP4 13 F1 car.
