Vauxhall announces the reworked Insignia VXR
The Vauxhall Insignia VXR is being relaunched, with the British car maker aiming to make it the most affordable car to boast a roaring top speed of 170mph.
Branded as the Insignia VXR SuperSport, the vehicle is able to step into a market of its own as no other four-door saloon can reach a supercar-grade top speed while still offering a reasonable price tag.
In order to enable the new vehicle to reach 170mph, Vauxhall has opted to remove the speed limiter and fit a 2.8-litre V6 engine under the bonnet.
This motor is further enhanced with a single twin-scroll turbocharger, which can allow the kit to produce a blistering 320bhp.
Drivers after a sense of speed from the Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport will also be pleased to hear that the car can reach 60mph from rest in just 5.6 seconds.
Despite all the power, the addition of adaptive damping and a sophisticated HiPer strut suspension system should ensure motorists are kept comfortable at all times.
