Vauxhall Cascada convertible gets potent new petrol powerplant
A small, light and economical, yet powerful and responsive, petrol engine is high on the wish-list of many motorists these days, and the best of the automotive manufacturers know this.
Vauxhall have their full-size, four-seat convertible, the Cascada, on sale and now it too gets another top-performing engine to add its already wide choice of powerplants. A very potent-sounding 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor with 197bhp and 220lb ft of torque.
The new engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and can be ordered with the new Cascada from October this year. This compact, modern petrol engine makes the best use of a small, quick-spooling turbocharger to offer plenty of usable torque from nice and early in the rev range, which will make the Cascada a pleasure to drive both in town and on the motorway. Indeed, with this new engine installed, the Cascada will boast an impressive top speed of 146mph.
This new petrol engine is just part of a full powerplant range refresh from Vauxhall, that will see the historic Luton brand offering a wide choice of the latest in engine technology in the next few years.
