Vauxhall Corsa Wins Small Car of the Year at News UK Motor Awards
- Vauxhall was named Manufacturer of the Year
- The Corsa was also crowned Small Car of the Year
- The annual awards are held by The Sun newspaper
Vauxhall picked up two awards at the recent 2023 News UK Motor Awards. The awards included Small Car of the Year for the New Corsa and Manufacturer of the Year.
The annual awards ceremony was held last month and recognises the top vehicles from the past 12 months. Votes are decided by The Sun newspaper.
This is not the first time Vauxhall Corsa has been recognised at the News UK Motor Awards. In 2020, the Corsa was named Car of the Year, and Value Car of the Year in 2021.
Vauxhall Corsa is the third best-selling model overall in the UK this year. So, it’s not hard to see why it was crowned Small Car of the Year.
The New Corsa released this year boasts design and technology improvements, with a new bold vizor front end. Drivers have the choice of efficient petrol, hybrid, or electric powertrains.
Two battery options are available on the New Corsa Electric – 51 kWh or 100kWh. The 51 kWh battery offers up to 246 miles of range (WLTP). While the 100 kWh battery offers slightly less at up to 222 miles (WLTP).
Tailor your drive and maximise performance with three driving modes. Choose from eco, sport, and normal.
Key features include:
- Alloy wheels as standard in 16” or 17”
- Panoramic Rear-View Camera to make parking effortless
- 10” colour touschreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

Manufacturer of the Year
The Manufacturer of the Year award ends the year on a high for Vauxhall. This year saw them progress towards becoming an electric-only car manufacturer by 2028.
At the start of the year, Vauxhall launched the GSe sub-brand. Grand Sport Electric combines innovative technology and electrifying performance. This year also saw the launch of the Astra Electric. From next year, Vauxhall will offer an electrified version of every car in the range.
Drivers also got a glimpse into the future of Vauxhall after the Experimental concept car was released last month. The battery-electric crossover is unlike anything ever produced by Vauxhall.
The Sun Motors Editor, Rob Gill, said: “Vauxhall has been part of the fabric of Britain for 120 years. One hundred and twenty years. And it will be for many years yet thanks to huge investment in its van plants in Luton and Ellesmere Port. Vauxhall should also be applauded for sticking with Corsa and Astra - two models we love and trust - by producing electric versions of them. Smart move.”
Electric Streets of Britain
Vauxhall launched the Electric Streets of Britain campaign earlier this year. The campaign will support their journey towards becoming an electric-only car brand. It set out to address the lack of on-street EV charging points offered by local councils. Vauxhall is partnering with three leading charging providers to address these issues.
You can have your say by completing a short survey on charging facilities in your area. Information will then be passed to local councils.
