The new Vauxhall Mokka managed to earn five stars when it took part in the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) test.

Euro NCAP testers were impressed at the level of safety displayed on the new Mokka all across the board, with the car achieving eye-catching results in all five categories analysed.

However, the standout moment was when the vehicle was presented with maximum points when its safety assist features were examined. This puts the car in a list that only a handful of European-worthy vehicles can also lay claim to.

Other features of the new Vauxhall Mokka that was met with praise from the Euro NCAP judges included its electronic stability control system, its handy seatbelt reminder indicator and its speed limitation assistance unit – all three of which are fitted to the car as standard.

Meanwhile, front, side head and side body airbags, on top of double belt pre-tensioners with load limiters saw the Mokka achieve a 96 per cent rating in the program's adult occupant category.

There was more joy for the British-based manufacturer when the Mokka's bumper enabled the car to score maximum points where pedestrian safety was concerned. Euro NCAP testers underlined that this feature presents "good protection to pedestrians' legs."

The good news continued to stream through when the car also achieved a 100 per cent rating for child occupant safety.

Rear outer ISOFIX child seat mountings and fasteners should drivers wish to install an additional top-tether belt - both standard fittings of the new Vauxhall Mokka – were pinpointed as two of the main reasons why the vehicle excelled in this category.

Reflecting on the Mokka's impressive display when put in the hands of Euro NCAP judges, Duncan Aldred, the chairman and managing director of Vauxhall, stated: "Vauxhall offers the highest possible safety standards to our customers, and the Mokka is no exception.

"Vauxhall is very proud to bring cutting-edge technologies to a wider segment of customers."
