What To Expect From the Festive Period At Co-op Live

Following the launch of Vertu Place within Co-op Live, it’s the perfect time to check out what is going on at the newest entertainment arena in the UK over the upcoming festive period – including a very special show just ahead of the big day itself.

This weekend sees one of the biggest names in music return to Manchester for the first time since 2011 in the shape of Sir Paul McCartney.

Now aged 82, the former Beatles member remains a huge draw for fans old and new and plays his final shows of the year at Co-op Live, which is expected to feature iconic tracks such as Hey Jude, Live and Let Die and Let It Be.

Following straight on from that show on Monday 16 December is Manchester singer Paul Heaton, who made his name with the likes of the Housemartins and the Beautiful South through the 1980s and 1990s.

Heaton will be supporting by The Zutons across what is proving to be a hugely popular tour, with the date at Co-op Live seeing the addition of The Lightning Seeds to the line-up.

A totally different experience awaits on 17 December with a not-to-be-missed appearance from American heavy metal band Slipknot, who arrive at Co-op Live for the latest date on the tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of their self-titled debut album.

The multi-sensory show is the kind of performance for which Co-op Live was designed and promises to be one of the biggest events on the UK leg of the tour.

The final event before Christmas Day looks set to be a huge party thanks to Manchester At The Musicals on 20 December, which will be hosted by Olivier Award-winning star Sheridan Smith.

Smith will be joined by a number of big names from the stage – including Alfie Boe and Samantha Barks as co-hosts – for an evening featuring hits from a number of popular musicals as well as various festive favourites.
