All-new Astra to be revealed at Frankfurt show in September
Vauxhall's all-new Astra is to premiere at this year's Frankfurt International Motor Show.
The redesigned car will be unveiled on September 15th, the first day of the 66th International Motor Show held in the central German city.
First seen in 1979, the Astra is Vauxhall's long-standing small family car. The latest reincarnation features a number of petrol and diesel units ranging from 100PS to 200PS, one of which is the 1.4-litre (145PS) four-cylinder ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo.
The Astra will come equipped with Vauxhall's OnStar technology as standard, which includes a high-speed 4G LTE mobile network, emergency response notification and stolen vehicle recovery technology. A new IntelliLink infotainment system also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies, of which the Astra is one of the first mainstream vehicles to benefit from.
At up to 200kg lighter than the outgoing model, the Cheshire-built Astra also boasts clever design, making it smaller on the outside and enlarging the available interior space.
Tim Tozer, Vauxhall's Chairman and Managing Director commented: "The all-new Brit-built Astra raises the bar in terms of quality, design and connectivity. Lighter than ever before, with new powertrains and cutting-edge technology, the new Astra looks set to shake up the C-segment when it arrives in showrooms this autumn."
